Plant histochemistry by correlation peak imaging.
Using a new NMR correlation-peak imaging technique, we were able to investigate noninvasively the spatial distribution of carbohydrates and amino acids in the hypocotyl of castor bean seedlings. In addition to the expected high sucrose concentration in the phloem area of the vascular bundles, we could also observe high levels of sucrose in the cortex parenchyma, but low levels in the pith paren...
متن کاملHigh glycolytic activity in rat glioma demonstrated in vivo by correlation peak 1H magnetic resonance imaging.
High-grade brain tumors are known to have a high rate of glucose (Glc) consumption. Postmortem measurements have suggested that Glc content in experimental brain tumors is relatively low. We used magnetic resonance spectroscopy to investigate this, in vivo, in the brains of seven rats bearing intracerebral C6 gliomas. We combined the high spectral resolution allowed by two-dimensional proton nu...

متن کاملThe peak luminosity – peak energy correlation in GRBs
We derive the peak luminosity–peak energy (Liso–Epeak) correlation using 22 long Gamma– Ray Bursts (GRBs) with firm redshift measurements. We find that its slope is similar to the correlation between the time integrated isotropic emitted energy Eiso and Epeak (Amati et al. 2002). For the 15 GRBs in our sample with estimated jet opening angle we compute the collimation corrected peak luminosity ...
متن کاملGas imaging by infrared gas-correlation spectrometry.
We describe a new method for visualization of gas flows based on infrared absorption and gas-correlation techniques. This result is a gray-scale or false color-coded image showing the distribution of a specific gas in the area studied. A sequence of images showing the workplace test setup with a turbulent flowing gas is presented.
